1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Arcane Ledger ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Arcane Ledger is a personal finance application that allows you to:

• Track income, expenses, and bills manually or by connecting a bank account via Plaid.
• View spending forecasts and safe-to-spend calculations based on your financial data.
• Set budgets and savings goals.
• Share a household view with invited members.

3. Account Registration

You must register with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

You may not create accounts on behalf of others without authorization, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

4. Bank Account Connection (Plaid)

Bank data is retrieved on a read-only basis. We cannot and do not initiate transfers, payments, or any transactions on your behalf. The data shown in the app is pulled from Plaid and may not reflect real-time balances — always verify critical financial information directly with your financial institution.

5. Subscription and Billing

Some features of Arcane Ledger require a paid subscription. By subscribing:

• You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Free trial periods, if offered, convert to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period unless cancelled.
• Billing is processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

To cancel your subscription, use the billing management link in the app's Account settings or contact us at stackedalchemist@gmail.com. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods except where required by law.

6. Not Financial Advice

Arcane Ledger provides financial tracking and forecasting tools only. Nothing in the Service constitutes:

• Financial, investment, or tax advice
• A recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any financial instrument
• Guidance on debt management or credit decisions
• Any form of professional financial service

Forecasts and calculations shown in the app are estimates based on data you enter or import. Actual financial outcomes may differ significantly. We are not responsible for financial decisions made based on information shown in the app.

7. Accuracy of Data

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data displayed in the app. Bank data retrieved via Plaid may be delayed or incomplete. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of your financial information directly with your financial institution.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or interfere with the Service.
• Share your account access with unauthorized parties.
• Use the Service to process data belonging to others without their consent.
• Attempt to circumvent subscription restrictions or access gated features without a valid subscription.

9. Household Sharing

The household sharing feature allows you to invite other users to view shared financial data. By using this feature, you acknowledge that invited members will have visibility into the financial data associated with your shared household. Only invite people you trust with this information. You are responsible for managing your household member list.

10. Intellectual Property

The Arcane Ledger application, its design, code, and content are owned by Stacked Alchemist. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. Your financial data belongs to you — we claim no ownership over data you enter or import.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• We are not liable for any financial losses, missed payments, overdrafts, or other consequences arising from your use of or reliance on the Service.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
• We are not liable for service interruptions, data loss, or third-party service failures (including Plaid or Stripe outages).

12. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted per the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction.
